ACADEMIC PHYSICIAN

I work as an emergency physician in an inner-city tertiary-care hospital. I previously spent more than a dozen years practicing trauma medicine at one of the busiest trauma centres in Ontario.

I am a professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University.

I am the past chair of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Emergency Medicine specialty committee 

I am the past vice-chair of the Academic Section of the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians.

CLINICIAN EDUCATOR

I am the associate chair - education for the Department of Medicine at McMaster University.

I am the co-founder of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Clinician Educator diploma program.

I am the founding editor-in-chief of the ICE (International Clinician Educators) blog

I  am the co-host of the weekly PAPERs Podcast.

I am the past co-chair of the International Conference on Residency Education.

I am the past associate editor – education for the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine.

SCIENTIST

I am the assistant dean of the McMaster Education Research, Innovation and Theory (MERIT) program 

I hold the William J Walsh Chair in Medical Education, McMaster University

My education scholarship focuses on clinical reasoning, competency-based medical education and assessment.
